Trauma Therapy

You Don't Have to Keep Carrying This Alone

Maybe it doesn't even feel like "trauma." Maybe it just feels like exhaustion: like you're always braced for something, replaying moments you'd do anything to stop thinking about, or going through the motions while feeling disconnected from your own life. You've told yourself you should be over it by now. You've pushed through. And yet here you are.

That's not a weakness. That's the beginning of something brave.

At Custom Counseling Solutions, I help adults find real, everyday relief from the weight of past experiences. Not just understanding, but actual tools they can use when things get hard.

Struggles You're Facing

Trauma doesn't always announce itself. You might notice:

  • A constant low hum of unease, waiting for something to go wrong, even when everything looks fine on the outside

  • Emotions that feel out of proportion: sudden anger, shutting down, or crying without knowing exactly why

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or others, going through the motions but never quite present, even in relationships you care about

  • Exhaustion from holding it all together, because you've become so skilled at keeping it in that it's now costing you everything

Relief You Can Expect

Therapy won't erase what happened. But it can change how much power those experiences have over your daily life.

Many clients begin noticing shifts within the first few sessions, not because everything is resolved, but because they finally feel heard and can see a path forward. Over time, you can expect to feel more grounded when difficult emotions surface, more in control of your reactions, and less at the mercy of memories that used to derail your whole day.

The goal isn't just to cope. It's to build a life where the past stops driving.

How I Guide You There

I use an integrative approach drawing primarily from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Trauma-Focused CBT, two of the most well-researched methods for trauma recovery. EMDR helps your brain re-process difficult memories so they lose their emotional charge. Trauma-Focused CBT helps identify thought patterns that formed in response to pain and gently shift them toward ones that actually serve you now.

What sets my approach apart is the emphasis on action. Every session ends with a "challenge": something small and concrete to practice before we meet again. Real change happens in the moments between sessions, not just during them. I want you to feel the difference, not just understand it.

What to Expect

Your first session is a 60-minute intake where I'll listen to what's impacting your life and what brought you here. If something feels too hard to talk about yet, we go at your pace. Nothing is forced.

From there, I'll build a treatment plan with you. You'll always know where we're headed and why. Sessions are typically weekly, with the option to shift to every two weeks as you begin to feel more settled. I also share my work number for between-session check-ins, because life doesn't wait for your next appointment.

A Good Fit for You

This work suits adults who are ready to try something different, even if they're not sure what that looks like yet. Many people I work with don't identify with the word "trauma." They come in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, and we discover the thread together. You don't need a label to start.

I also have experience supporting women, veterans, and those navigating substance recovery alongside emotional healing. All backgrounds, identities, and stories are welcome here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm nervous about opening up?

That's completely normal. Most people are. You won't be pushed to share more than you're ready for. I move at your pace, always.

Do I have to call it "trauma" to work with me?

Not at all. Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed or just stuck. We find the root together. You don't need a label to begin.

How long will therapy take?

It varies by person. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within a few weeks; deeper work may unfold over several months. I'll check in on your progress regularly and adjust as you grow.

Ready to Take the First Step?

It's okay if you're not completely sure yet. Most people aren't. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, no commitment required. Just a conversation to see if I'm the right fit for you.
